Zi Rong (‘Purple Velvet’) is a modern Chinese shrub rose bred by Jiang Zhengzhi in 2022. It produces intensely rich rose-purple blooms with a velvet-like texture, each measuring about 10–13 cm across. With around 40+ petals per flower, the blooms are full and cup-shaped. Zi Rong offers moderate lemony-fruit fragrance, blossoms repeatedly through the growing season, and thrives in heat and humidity—with thick petals resistant to rain and searing sun. Plants grow upright and compact at 90–120 cm tall, with few thorns and good disease resistance
