They grow in spring and fall in Zone 7. This pic was from Dec 17th. Right before the first hard freeze. Spring they get hip / chest high in Zone 7. Recommend planting right along the border of tree shader line or bushes so they get partial sun to full sun. Also recommend getting a pack of other wildflowers and some zinnia seeds and putting them all down together to get some variability. Bonus: Buy inexpensive buckwheat seed year round as a cover crop for all your other empty beds, Just throw it down and fling some light compost over the top.
These seeds did so well in our backyard. I watered them pretty consistently at the beginning of summer and as they were established and began sprouting I let our drip system do the rest of the work and boy did they do some work! Some of them are around 5 feet tall and there are so many blooms that continue to pop. Can’t recommend enough! We have brought so many honey bees into our yard (they are still hanging around even in late September) We are zone 7 in Utah and these guys did so well
Bought these to plant in remembrance of my boyfriends best friend who suddenly passed two months ago. I didn’t plant very many bc I wasn’t sure if they’d germinate, plus I wanted to save them until I can get the weeds in my yard under control so they’re not competing with one another. Let me just say, every single one I planted grew. They have a really awesome germination rate. the flowers are beautiful and I find they bring some sort of comfort from time to time whilst we live through struggle of grief over our lost friend. Lastly, bees freaking adore these which makes me very happy!
I just tossed seed in a pretty big garden area. I have 4 rows about 50 feet long, 3-4 feet wide. I didn’t space them according to packaging or thin them out, I just make sure to cut flowers daily before they fully open and they last 5-7 days in a vase. They’re attracting some kind of green bug that’s eating them alive, but these plants are so productive I still have plenty to cut for bouquets. I get at the very least a whole pint sized mason jar full of fresh stems daily. Love these productive plants!
